The most glamorous of careers often hide the most piteous stories underneath. The winner of the USA and World champions in hurdle events, Lolo Jones has reached her current position after plenty of effort and enormous amount of perseverance. A single mother with five children, Jones had a difficult and impoverished childhood. Her mother was constantly in motion as well as having lived in a basement church for a duration. Jones was forced to move into a new school each throughout her senior year as a result of her nomadic life. Jones was forced to move away from her mother in Theodore Roosevelt School to pursue her love of track. She stayed in four homes during her time in high school, so she could attend all of her classes at one time. Jones was a part of the Orchestra of Iowa and the Gatorade Track and Field Award.
